Kenny Small Jr

Kenny Small Jr. is one of the most respected basketball trainers and coaches in New England, bringing 15 years of coaching experience, 13 years of AAU leadership, 8 years as a high school head coach, and 10 years as a full-time professional skills trainer.

A standout player himself, Kenny made his mark at Stratford High School in Connecticut, graduating in 2005 as the school’s all-time leading scorer and a three-year starter. He was a two-time team captain, a three-time New Haven Register All-State selection, and the Connecticut Post Super 15 MVP. Kenny went on to play collegiately at Brandeis University, where he helped lead the Judges to two NCAA Division III Elite 8s and two Sweet 16 appearances, earning All-UAA honors in both his junior and senior seasons.

After his playing career, Kenny transitioned into coaching and player development, co-founding Boston Elite Basketball alongside his father, Kenny Small Sr., and college teammate Terrell Hollins. Over the past decade, he has worked with thousands of athletes at every level—from beginners to pros—helping players develop elite skills, strengthen their basketball IQ, and achieve their personal and team goals. His clientele includes players competing in the NBA, EuroLeague, and professional leagues across Romania, Italy, Greece, Bosnia, Spain, and Germany.

Currently, Kenny serves as the Head Girls Varsity Basketball Coach at The Rivers School in Weston, MA, a NEPSAC powerhouse, where he led the program to the 2024–2025 NEPSAC Class B Championship in his first season. Before joining Rivers, he was the Head Coach at Middlesex School, following successful stints at Arlington Catholic and New Country Day. Across his eight years as a high school head coach, Kenny has built a reputation for developing players, cultivating winning cultures, and creating pathways for athletes to compete at the next level.

Through Boston Elite Basketball, Kenny has trained athletes from prestigious college programs such as Duke, Miami, UCF, URI, Boston College, Fordham, Providence, and Hartford, as well as professionals from the Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, and New Orleans Pelicans. Each summer, he runs elite training camps and clinics across Massachusetts and Connecticut, working with players from towns including Bedford, Newton, Arlington, Weston, Medfield, Concord, and Dover.

Driven by a passion for helping players maximize their potential on and off the court, Coach Kenny Small Jr. continues to impact the basketball community by providing high-level development opportunities, mentorship, and leadership to the next generation of athletes.
